So, who knows what day today is?

April 24th, 1915.

Today is the commemoration of the Armenian Genocide, where the Ottoman Empire spent two years doing their damndest to erase Armenians off the face of the earth.

I guess there are just too many genocides to keep straight anymore, huh?

But this one’s kind of unique. You see, writing or talking about the Armenian Genocide and using the word ‘genocide’ in reference to it in Turkey can lead to being arrested and imprisoned for “insulting Turkishness”.

Lord, have mercy,
Christ, have mercy,
Lord, have mercy on us sinners.
